Vodafone and Idea’s new company VI and what will be its future, good or bad
In the past few years, Vodafone and Idea have been the two separate brands of Vodafone Idea Limited which today have come together and have rebranded as VI.
It was said that the company was looking for a fresh start, after its establishment from the British Telecom Giant Vodafone Group’s India business and billionaire, Kumar Mangalam Birla Idea Cellular merged in the country.
According to the recent news, a member from the Vodafone Idea Limited said that VI is more than just an abbreviation of Vodafone and Idea. It is kept shorter, simpler because it is referencing the origin of the two brands. It also reflects the collective nature of the Indian society. “It’s not just about me it’s especially about we”, The CEO said in an interview.
PAST OF THE COMPANY:-
Nearly after two years the merger of the Vodafone Idea Company has announced its new name. The Vodafone Idea will now be known as VI. The full name of the new company VI is Vodafone India Limited. The Vodafone and Idea were merged in August of 2018, but till now both companies were being run in their name. The company has said that VI is future ready and from now both companies will do business under the strategy of increasing in coming days. As per source, we can expect that in coming days is we can come up with some innovative customer friendly new prepaid and data plans for their customers.
INTRODUCING 5D VI LOGOS:-
The company has also said that along with 4G, it’s also ready with the 5G technology. The company also claims that during the merger, 4G coverage across the country has doubled.
The company said in a statement on Monday, that “VI is not just an identity, but it is a new design”. The “I” is always punctuated with the bold mustard dot which shows that it is confident, surprising and delightful. The company also reflects the throbbing and the progressive pulse of India. In terms of visual presentation, the logo looks static. “Importantly, the future is about the 3D and 5D logos married to sonic logos as well. We will need to see how these executions look and sound. Let’s wait for that,” the company said in a statement.
INTRODUCING AN ADVANCED 5G TECHNOLOGY:-
The VIL is now a leaner and agile, and the deployment of many principles of 5G architecture has helped us transform into a future-fit, digital network for the changing customer needs. The launch of the new brand signifies our desire to not just deliver, but delight our customers, stakeholders, communities and our employees and to be a Champion for Digital India. The brand integration has not only marked the completion of the largest telecom merger in the world, but also set the company on its future journey to offer world class digital experiences to 1 Billion Indians on our strong 4G network.
BUDGET AND FUNDS:-
The VIL, had about 280 million subscribers as of June. “A brand with its eyes set on the future, it is built for and around customers. The integration of two brands is a culmination of the largest telecom integration in the world,” VIL said in a statement communicating while its new unified consumer brand identity and positioning through a virtual launch on Monday.
The announcement comes close on the heels of the Vodafone Idea board, that last week, it is approving the fund-raising plans of up to ₹25,000 crore through a combination of equity and debt instruments, to keep the company afloat.
The upcoming fundraising will offer a lifeline to the cash-strapped VIL, which has suffered massive losses, and has been losing subscribers and Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), and faces outstanding Adjusted Gross revenue (AGR) dues of about ₹50,000 crore.
If we are talking about the future, last week, both the companies have finally become a single entity know as ‘Vi.’ The new branding was introduced to the world right after the Annual General Meet of the company, which took place. The company is looking forward to raise around Rs 15,000 crore in debt and equity and another Rs 10,000 crore via sale of its data centre and fibre business, but assured that the overall fundraising will not exceed Rs 25,000 crore.
VI IS GIVING A TOUGH COMPETITION TO RELIANCE JIO AND AIRTEL:-
The VI can also give a tough competition to both Jio and Airtel with its 5G services. But still 5G has a long way to go in India. For now, the VI only needs to focus on enhancing its cash flow.
Telecom, cannot afford to borrow more and it will be very important for every investor in the company. The results will show how the company has restructured its finances. VI needs to get back to the customers which it has been losing and on the other hand it also needs a higher ARPU to survive. Overall, if Telecom, fails now the economy of the country will take a huge hit.
NEW SCHEMES ADDED IN THE RECHARGE SYSTEM:-
The tariff is for sure going to increase in the coming days according to the source. We can expect that in the coming days the company can come up with some innovative, customer-friendly, new prepaid and data plans for their customers. The VI may so offer some new VIP prepaid student plans in order to attract users but all these are just speculations.

As we all know that the VI ads are already on TV and digital platforms and the company is also planning a high decibel intensive multi-media campaign. Meanwhile, VI’s rival in Telecom business Reliance Jio in a tweet on Monday said that “VI love to see you together.”
