NEW TWITTER UPDATES: the official announcement is yet to happen
As per the latest buzz, Twitter may launch new features to simplify Direct messages, Retweets. These Twitter update features are to mute the DM requests, add text to the retweets which we spotted by a reverse engineering expert.
Twitter is spotted working on some new Twitter updates, that would make the app easier and secured handling direct messages and retweets. If someone messages you on Twitter, it arrives as a message request, making it much easier to choose the people you chat with.
You can opt to either accept or delete the message(s) or report or block the sender. Without any action, the sender will never know if the message has been read, they will be placed separately in the message requests list other than the normal DMs.
DM requests can also be muted, yes you can also mute the incoming requests making strangers unable to message you. This could help it making it easier to contradict taking any further actions. Any future message notifications will not be received in the same conversation and you can just ignore the requests without blocking the senders. One less reason to lock the DM requests completely.
There is no official announcement regarding this updates. Reverse engineering expert, Jane Manchun Wong(@wongmjane), was the first to spot and tweet about this.
The two ultra-fine, useful features are going to be added, which the team is still working on. Another feature being worked on is Birdwatch. It is an attempt by Twitter to crowdsource feedback and rule in on the spreaders of misinformation giving the platform a bad name.
